The new building of the Moscow City Duma was erected on the territory of the Novo-Ekaterininskaya Hospital.
The authors of the project are architects M. Posokhin and S. Choban.
The Moscow City Duma building received a rectangular shape, which made it possible to organize the layout of the interior spaces as rationally as possible, providing enough space for both the work rooms of Moscow City Duma members and for spaces intended for holding meetings and public discussions.
The design of the facades is characterized by restrained dignity and laconicism — by erecting a new volume in close proximity to the classicist ensemble, the architects sought to delicately highlight the historical buildings. The leitmotif of the façade solution was the horizontal belts of interfloor ceilings and vertical half-columns, which set a clear rhythm for the glazed surface. The main façade is decorated with a portico, whose shape gives a modern interpretation of the classic entrance portal.
To create comfortable working conditions for employees, the architects decided to use sun protection systems. With the help of WellSun blinds, it was possible to regulate the amount of incoming light, protect the premises from overheating and eliminate unwanted views from the outside.
